"We have to change the negative things into positive. In
today's Japanese film industry we always say we don't
have enough budget, that people don't go to see the films.
But we can think of it in a positive way, meaning that if
audiences don't go to the cinema we can make any movie
we want. After all, no matter what kind of movie you make
it's never a hit, so we can make a really bold, daring movie.
There are many talented actors and crew, but many Japanese
movies aren't interesting. Many films are made with the image
of what a Japanese film should be like. Some films venture
outside those expectations a little bit, but I feel we should
break them."

-- Takashi Miike

"If by noise you mean uncomfortable sound, then pop music is noise to me."

This is my blog. I write about whatever I feel like writing about. Usually, I feel like writing about Asian films, but not always. I harbor dreams of getting paid to write about Asian Cinema and becoming a Serious Internet Film Blogger, but my current job frequently gets in the way of that.

I used to write the "Asian Invasion" column for PiQ magazine and occasionally contribute feature articles, as well. Then the magazine got cancelled. Crap.

I'm a contributing member of 24 Frames Per Second, a site for film news and reviews that kicks ass. You can add their RSS feed to your friends list: 24framesfeed. Do so.

I am a card carrying member of Protect.
National Association to PROTECT Children - www.protect.org

Feel free to add me if you'd like, but know that I may not add you back and don't take it personally. I'm usually fairly busy and my friends list is already huge and takes an inordinate amount of time to catch up on as it is. Similarly, I am not too great at being a regular commenter on friends LJ's. If you're the writer of a cinema blog and want to exchange sidebar links, leave a comment or drop me an email at the address above.

If you want to contact me about writing something for your book/site/magazine/tombstone, please don't hesitate, either.
